Farewell to Mrs. Deegan

It was with a sense of  genuine sadness that pupils and staff of the CBS Primary School bade farewell to Mrs. Maria Deegan after  39 years of service in the school. The entire school population gathered for a school assembly on Wednesday last to celebrate Maria’s 39 years as a dedicated teacher in the CBS.

The choir sang one of Maria’s favourites – ‘I have a Dream’ and also sang the beautifully haunting ‘Irish Blessing’ while the 6th. class pupils waded in with a song from West-Side Story – ‘Maria’.

All the classes prepared art work and poetry to wish Mrs. Deegan well.

After the assembly of pupils, a special reception was held in the school for staff, parent helpers, and retired colleagues including two past principals Mr. Jack Stacey and Mr. Cathal Mooney and a past Deputy Principal , Mrs. Miriam O’Brien.

Presentations were made on behalf of staff, parents and Board of Management.

New School Project

The school has now received detailed plans for the new school and the design team will be working at the site over the next four months. The building will be a 'state of the art' facility. It is hoped to have the plans on the school web site within the next month.

The school will be situated at Castlemoyle, just behind the Mercy Convent and it will be a co-ed facility.
