School Starts :          9.00 a.m.
Morning Break :         10.45 a.m. until 11.00 a.m.
Lunch Break:        1.00 p.m. until  1.30 p.m.
School Dismisses:    2.40 p.m.


•    All pupils who enrol from Michael Street National School are brought to the CBS Primary School on a familiarisation day in June.
•    A general information meeting for the parents of our new 2nd. Classes is held in early September each year. This allows teachers and parents to meet and parents have an opportunity to access information on the school .
•    The school operates an open door policy to parents. i.e. parents are always welcome to visit the school and talk with principal or teachers. Parents may also become involved with our Paired Reading and Paired Maths projects  which involves parent volunteers working in the classes during the mornings.
•    Reports are issued every Christmas and every June and parent teacher meetings are held every January.
•    Each year we screen all 2nd. Class pupils on Reading and Maths using standardised tests. This is continued on a yearly basis. Where particular problems are identified with development, parents are contacted.
•    The school has three full time resource teachers who work with children identified as having learning difficulties or emotional difficulties. This is only done in consultation with parents. An individual Learning Plan is devised for each pupil receiving extra support.
•    The school operates a breakfast club each morning between 8.30 a.m. and 9.00 a.m. Pupils can have a breakfast consisting of toast , cereal of choice, milk, fruit ,etc.
•    The school hopes to get finance for a lunch time club for this coming year in which pupils can be supplied with sandwiches, rolls, etc. at lunchtime.
•    The school supplies free apples and free bananas to every class each day of the school year. This is to encourage more healthy eating habits.
•    The school operates  a positive discipline policy . Each pupil, is rewarded with stamps, certificates, etc. for work well done and for good behaviour. Certificates are presented for 100, 200, 300 stamps and for good attendance, good improvement, good effort, ,etc.
•    The school has a tracksuit style school uniform. The uniform must be ordered through the school and the average cost is €45 for a sweatshirt with school crest, tracksuit top with crest and tracksuit bottom.
•    Each pupil is screened for singing ability in 2nd. Class and where a pupil has a suitable talent, he is asked to join our school choir which has a professional instructor.
•    The school has a chess club which operates on each Wednesday night between October and March.
•    The school operates a healthy lunches policy which encourages sandwiches , fruit, juice, milk, etc. and bans crisps , chocolate bars, sweets, etc.
•    Tin whistle lessons ,piping lessons, drumming lessons, guitar lessons, and keyboard  lessons are offered to pupils each year.
•    The school runs an after school quiz club one evening each week.
•    The school runs an after school handball club for 15 weeks of the year.
•    The school , in association with the Geraldine O'Hanrahan GAA Club , offers hurling skills each Monday  morning for interested pupils. The school operates both hurling and football teams which take part in the County Wexford Rackard Leagues.
•    The school operates a strict anti-bullying policy. Every pupil is required to sign a contract. We define bullying as any form of persistent and unwanted attention, be it physical, verbal,  emotional or psychological. Each act of bullying is dealt with through a number of means including suspension.
•    Every class has a 10 week swimming slot each year during which swimming lessons are taught by qualified instructors.
•    The school operates a Paired Maths project whereby children do a six week project on Maths Games . The games are supplied by the school for the children to bring home. A new game is provided each week . This is a fun way of learning Maths.
•    The Paired Reading Project  operates for 12 weeks each winter. This again is a home based project designed to encourage reading.
•    The school operates a Book Lease Scheme. All books and copies are supplied by the school.
•    The school operates a text messaging system whereby parents are sent regular reminders, etc. by text message.

The Book Lease Scheme (€70) covers the following items:

2.    1st. Communion and Confirmation Workbooks
3.    One full set of copies  
4.    Micra T Reading Test
5.    Sigma T Maths Test
6.    24 Hour Accident Insurance all year round
7.    All Art and Craft Activities
8.    Photocopying
BOOK LEASE MONEY CAN BE PAID IN JUNE  OR  SEPTEMBER AND CAN BE PAID IN  INSTALMENTS OF €10 OR MORE. Every payment is receipted.
